Edith Cavell was the British matron of a hospital in Brussels. She helped Allied soldiers escape into neutral Netherlands, having helped some 200 soldiers escape. In August 1915, she was tried by the Germans for treason, convicted, and executed. Her story was exploited by the British for propaganda,
